Kindness.

When I heard about the death of Mac Miller, and all of the abuse Ariana Grande was receiving, it lit a spark in my mind that the world is cruel. If you don’t know who he is, he (was) a rapper that had a tough battle with depression and drug addiction. He dated Ariana Grande for a long time, but their relationship ended a few months ago and Ariana got quite a bit of hate for ending it with him when he was still struggling with a drug addiction, which she spoke out and said on her Twitter:

Anyone with any empathy in their hearts would support her, right? Especially when he passes away, you would think to support her during this clearly tough time. She wasn’t with him anymore, but that doesn’t mean she isn’t heartbroken by his death and probably cried her heart out about it.

Apparently, many people decided to continuously tell the poor girl that it’s her fault and that she killed Mac Miller. It resulted in her having to turn off her Instagram comments to stop all of the ignorant people hating on her. Imagine how horrible she feels stout herself after that. I just want to say that it was not her fault.

From reading about the whole topic, it made me think how the world would be a much better place if we just showed kindness to everyone around us. What’s the point of spreading negativity around and making people feel awful about themselves? It makes me feel sick to my stomach that someone could say such absurd things to Ariana.

Like the quote says, “Kindness is free, spread that stuff everywhere.” Why do you want to make someone hurt more than they already are? Are you looking for someone to blame? Are you trying to put attention on someone else to take away from what you’ve done? Do you really hate the person that much that you want to make their life hell? I don’t know what your reason is, but no matter what, that’s called bullying. I’m not just talking about Mac Miller and Ariana Grande, I’m also talking about being mean to someone you know personally whether that be from school, work or wherever else. Before you speak, think about what it adds to the person’s life. If your answer isn’t something positive then don’t say it. Someone may have betrayed you in the past, but bullying them isn’t going to make you even, it makes you just as bad as them so be the better person. It might take time to forgive that person if they have done something to you, and you don’t have to forget about the incident, but being mean to them is just going to make the situation worse.

Showing kindness to everyone around you, spreads positivity around and will make everyone’s day better. I know this quote is overused and cheesy, but “Treat people as you would like to be treated.” I don’t think that you want to be bullied, I sure don’t, so don’t do it to anyone else. Remember that you don’t know what’s going on behind the scenes. I am sure that Ariana Grande is in pain right now, and who knows, the comments could cause her to do something harmful to herself.

Every day could be someone’s last, so be kind always. This week I want to give all of you a goal. Do something kind for someone else every day this week. That could be complimenting your co-worker’s outfit, surprising your family/boyfriend with a home cooked meal or telling your mum that you love her. Our tongues are our most powerful tool. Using them for good, no matter how simple your kind words or actions are can make someone’s whole week. However, if we use them for harm, they could have fatal a effect on someone else.

That’s all for this motivational Monday! I’m praying for Ariana Grande and Mac Miller’s family during this tough time, and that the hate comments don’t get to her. Please remember that kindness goes a long way and it’s so easy to do! Don’t spread hate.

What topic do you want me to talk about next week, I need ideas! Comment below.

  1. this is such an amazing post. Everything you’re saying is so true and should resonate with everyone. We have the power to either brighten or worsen someone’s day – all it takes is a few words. We should definitely be kinder to people and think about how we are impacting their life. Once again, this post is amazing, Thank you! xox

  2. I love this post, it is true on so many levels. Kindness such a simple concept that could change the world and yet it is one of the most difficult things to achieve. I also completely agree with Ariana Grande and it’s a shame how ugly people can be towards others.

  3. I really enjoyed reading this. I listened to Mac Miller a lot and he was so talented, I was really upset hearing he had died and it got to me even more that it was because of his drug problem. The whole Ariana Grande scene really upset me, she was blamed and had so much hate sent her way and there was no need for it at all! I loved what you said about showing kindness to everyone around you, this was a really refreshing post to read, keep it up! 🙂 x
